Stevie Wonder-3-819x1024In the year 1970, Stevie Wonder left MoTown and recorded two solo albums by himself. Berry Gordy was stunned to learn this from Stevie Wonder. Berry Gordy signed Stevie Wonder's request for greater independence, full creative control and the rights to all of his songs. Stevie Wonder signed a 13 million dollars MoTown Records contract in 1972. This entitles Stevie Wonder to a higher royalty rate and more full creative control, as well as rights to his own music, that few artists were granted during that time. Wonder's songs now could discuss controversial issues like poverty, war and drugs. His album from 1972, Music Of My Mind was the first to be released under the MoTown agreement. In late 1972 Stevie Wonder released an album that is still regarded as an important piece of music, called Talking Book. The album featured the most popular hit-song, Superstition.
